Built in 1855, The Grapes is one of Southampton’s most historic public houses and, famously, a backdrop to the film Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslett.

 

Legend has it that six crew members of The Titanic, including three brothers, were drinking in the pub before setting sail.

After a few pints of ale, they lost track of time and missed the ill-fated passage.

 

Formally a haunt for sailors and seafaring folk of all types, The Grapes now fits into the more modern cosmopolitan feel of Oxford Street’s “Café Culture”.

 

The Grapes still has the all important traditional feel of a proper boozer but with a modern twist.

 

The pool table, live music with Sky Sports & TNT Sports showing on big screens inside and outside the pub, contribute to the popularity of the venue.

At The Grapes we are real sport fans and show a wide range of sports to accommodate all tastes.

We now have 5 large screens inside and 2 large screens outside at weekends.

 

The Grapes is conveniently located within a 15-minute walking distance from the Southampton F.C. stadium (St Mary's), making it a popular destination for football enthusiasts.

On match days, The Grapes is known for its lively and welcoming atmosphere, attracting families and children who come to enjoy the games.

 

We do not have an on-site kitchen; however, you are welcome to bring your own food. A Greek takeaway is conveniently located next door, and a pizza place is just a short walk away.

 

The Grapes also offers four guest rooms with basic furnishings, flat-screen TVs, and en suite bathrooms. Tea and coffee-making facilities are also provided.
